I built a successful career in defense, serving my country in increasingly responsible positions, but it seemed to get harder to make an impact. My heart wasn't in it.
When the pandemic hit and I turned 45, I took a hard look at the rest of my life and knew I needed more.
I was doing good work, but it was no longer my calling.
I needed the arts and literature to feed my soul. I needed to create.
